Common questions
Why did my photo come back as "I held back this one"?
When our AI is uncertain about the dish (blurry photo, multiple meals in frame, or non-food), we deliberately refuse to guess. This is by design. Retake the photo with good lighting and a single meal in the center of the frame.
Why no specific calorie count?
Photo-based calorie estimation is accurate to within ±30% at best in published research. Pretending otherwise creates the "9g protein on tortilla chips" hallucination problem we've all seen in other apps. We refuse to invent numbers we can't see. You get categorical levels (good / caution / low) and one specific next-meal tweak instead.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Mirrorbite Pro → Cancel Subscription. You'll keep access until the end of the paid period.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are processed through Apple's standard refund process at
reportaproblem.apple.com. We don't issue refunds directly because the purchase is via Apple. Common refund reasons (accidental subscription, didn't use the app) are usually approved.
Why does the app need camera access?
Mirrorbite's only input is a meal photo. We use camera access exclusively to capture that photo. You can also choose photos from your library instead. Photos are sent encrypted to our analysis server, processed once, and deleted immediately — never stored.
Does Mirrorbite work on iPad?
Yes, the app is universal (iPhone + iPad). On iPad the UI scales to portrait orientation. Photo capture works on iPad's camera or by choosing from library.
Is Mirrorbite medical advice?
No. Mirrorbite returns directional categorical feedback for general healthy-eating awareness. It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, not a treatment recommendation, and not a substitute for a registered dietitian. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or under the care of a clinician, talk to that clinician before changing your diet.
What languages are supported?
Phase 0 (initial release): English only. We're working on Japanese (Phase 1), Korean, and Traditional Chinese localizations.
Does Mirrorbite work offline?
The onboarding flow, paywall, and history thumbs work offline. The AI analysis itself requires an internet connection (we don't ship a full AI model on-device). Future versions may add an on-device fallback.
How is my data used?
See the
Privacy Policy. TL;DR: we collect nothing about you personally. No name, no email, no contacts, no location. The only data is your meal photo (sent encrypted, deleted after one call), the analysis result (stored on your device), and your anonymous subscription state (via RevenueCat).

Found a bug or hallucination claim? Email us with:
- Device model and iOS version
- App version (Settings → Mirrorbite at the bottom of the screen)
- What you tapped and what happened
- The photo (if comfortable sharing — we'll delete it after diagnosis)
